World Health Organization

World Health Organization (Organisation mondiale de la santé, OMS) is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN), which functions as a coordinating authority on international health. It was established on 7 April 1948, with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, inherited the mandate and resources of the health organization, which is an agency of the League of Nations (UN). WHO targets are to achieve the highest possible level of health for all peoples. Health, according to the definition given in the Constitution of WHO, is not merely the absence of diseases and disabilities, and complete physical, mental and social well-being. Director is Dr Margaret Chan.
